Fees & Payments

The hall lodging fees of Master’s Degree Students for 2026/27 is currently under review.

Hall places are to be offered for a full residential year. Hall lodging fees for the residential year are payable in two instalments to cover the full residential period. The 1st instalment will be collected upon accepting the hall offer, equivalent to Hall Confirmation Fee. The 2nd instalment will be collected in November.

*Air-conditioning, laundry and bedding fees are not included in hall lodging fees.

The hall lodging fees are subject to annual review and revision.

Failing in settling hall lodging fees on time may result in forfeiting bed place. All charges paid are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

Withdrawal from Student Residence

Hall places are offered for a full residential year. No withdrawal from the Student Residence is expected.


Policies on Fees

Payment Procedures

Upon the hall application results announcement, students have to pay a Hall Confirmation Fee (equivalent to 1st instalment of hall lodging fees) to indicate an acceptance of the offer. Failure to pay the Hall Confirmation Fee within the specified time period will imply a forfeiture of the offer.

Administrative Charge

Administrative charge ($300) will be levied separately for those specially requested and approved by the Student Residence Office.

Damage to Hostel and Properties

Compensation to the University for damage caused to the Student Residence and properties will be based on assessment by the Director of Student Residence Office in consultation with the Directors of Facilities Management and Finance Office, having regards to the cost of properties repaired and replaced as appropriate.

Penalty Charges for Late Check-Out and Improper Check-out

Penalty charges will be levied on the following residents:

  1. Residents fail to check out their rooms upon the completion of the assigned period.
  2. Residents who fail to properly clean up their rooms.
  3. Residents who fail to restore the furniture upon check-out. The exact penalty charges will be determined by the Student Residence Office in consultation with Finance Office.

Penalty Charges

Late Check-out: HK$200/day/person + room charges/day/person
Improper check-out: A minimum of HK$200/room

Loss of / Damage to Resident Card / Key Card

Resident Card: HK$100 per card

Late Payment

Students who do not pay the fees and charges in full by the payment due date may be barred from accessing to the University's facilities and have their studies terminated by the University. More details can be found on the Penalties for Non-payment.

Refund

Hall Confirmation Fee: Non-refundable and non-transferable on all conditions.

Hall Lodging Fees:

  • Early withdrawal from Student Residence initiated by the student: No refund, e.g. due to leave of absence, outbound exchange or withdrawal from study.
  • Early withdrawal from Student Residence initiated by the University, e.g. due to expulsion from University on account of disciplinary and/or academic grounds: Refund on a pro rata daily rate basis for all the hall fees paid (except the Hall Confirmation Fee which is non-refundable and non-transferable).


Check Out upon Completion of Study / Termination of Study / Withdrawal of Study / Suspension of Study/ Leave of Absence

Residents are required to inform the Student Residence Office and move out of the hall upon any one of the following conditions:

  • Completion of study
  • Leave of absence
  • Termination of study
  • Withdrawal of study
  • Suspension of study
  • Any cases that result in inactive/part-time student status
  • Visa expired
All charges paid are non-refundable and non-transferable.
